Our topic of animals really got going over the weekend as the Indian stick insect eggs we have been observing and looking after for S.P.H.E. began to hatch. We currently have 1 on out hands but are expecting up to 6 more in the coming days and weeks. Navy class are looking forward to looking after them.

Art in pink class

Pink class students have been linking their art work with poetry this past year.
This week we read a short poem about a ladybird and then each student made their own ladybird 🙂

Ladybird
Ladybird, ladybird on the tree
Fly down here and sit with me
Rest on my hand, I’ll count your spots
2,4,6,8 polka-dots!

Active school flag Week 2015

What a fantastically active week we all has this week for Active School Flag 2015.
On Monday we had activity dice in the playgrounds, which had us all squatting, jogging, moving our arms and jumping.
Tuesday we were encouraged to cycle on the yard at break and lunch times, as well as active transitions which took place when moving from place to place in the school.
Wednesday saw us all working together on a whole school, 3km walk around Cregg grounds, we also used this as an opportunity to look for animals for Geography. The afternoon was great as Sligo Sport and Recreation partnership were in to work on throwing, catching and target games with us in preparation for our sports, activity day at the I.T. next Wednesday.
Thursday we got our groove on. An energetic disco was held in the school hall, and the more adventurous staff climbed the new Knocknarea mountain path after school.
Friday was jersey day and horse riding for the senior students at Island View in Grange.
Thanks to everyone who helped out. We had a fantastic time.

Many hands…

This term in Red Class we are learning all about growing. We have germinated seeds and are watching them develop into plants. We are also finding out all about how we are growing. We have looked at photographs and items of clothing from the past, as well as hand prints that we made last year. The difference is plain to see, Red class students are definitely getting bigger and stronger!
